Free admission to SDForum ETech SIG on Microformats

As you can see over to the right, the new events feed service stands ready to syndicate our calendar of upcoming events. The latest of which is an evening with the Emerging Tech SIG of SDForum to describe microformats and some of latest demos that are coming out of the woodwork.. Hope that some of you locals — and those of you in town for Macworld — can make it down to Palo Alto for the event. To ring in the New Year, CommerceNet has stepped up to host the meeting with free admission & free pizza!

It would be nice of the event page had a calendar entry on it, so I could add it to my schedule. Maybe iCalendar, vCalendar, or… there must be *something* else more appropriate… hmm.

    Mark,

Try clicking on the Subscribe… link in the events box on the microformats home page.

All the events on microformats.org are marked up with hCalendar and thus you can subscribe to them in any iCalendar-supporting calendar application like iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, Evolution, etc.

    Thanks, Tantek.

FWIW, I’d rather subscribe to an RSS feed that then contains vCal/iCal/hCal that I can put into my personal calendar as needed.. I don’t want to have thirty or forty subscribed calendars cluttering up my calendar, when I’m not interested in (or attending) the vast majority of events on them.

See this blog entry for more detail.

Thanks to Tantek, Kevin, Ryan and Rohit for the discussion this evening. I think you gained a few new believers this evening.
